What is a Lead Magnet?
A lead magnet is a tool designed to entice visitors to your website to hand over their contact information in exchange for something of value. Lead magnets come in all shapes and sizes. Most likely, if you’ve ever visited a website, you’ve been prompted to give your name and email address over for some free piece of content, training guide, video series, ebook, etc.
Creating a Lead Magnet
Creating a lead magnet is not incredibly difficult, but should be based off your ideal customer/avatar. For example, if your gym primarily targets competitors, you may offer a ebook about how to get into the competitive mindset ahead of a competition. Or if you’re a gym like CrossFit COMO, we primarily target women from age 24-50 and have developed these two lead magnets below.
Ok…So Now What?
Once you have their contact information, now you need to nurture them through your funnel. We have a series of emails that people who have downloaded our eBooks get sent over a two week period where we educate them on our gym, our trainers and our expertise. This phase is called indoctrination and its where we build trust, expertise and authenticity. In doing so, this is where we move people to the engagement phase, or where they become a client. For us, this is the first visit to the gym or their intro class. During our email series, we’re reminding our prospects to sign up for their free intro.
